On Delay got hauled out and put up on the hard in the boatyard for bottom painting.
The process was impressive but nerve-racking, especially:
- Getting On Delay into the haul-out slip (the wind was 20+ knots and she got a whack near the gunwale — right through the fiberglass when a gust caught us 🙁 )
- Watching her go up in the travel lift.
- Into the slip and the travel lift in place.
- For once I don’t chide Tony when I catch him with a cigarette. This is seems an appropriate moment for a cigarette.
- Going up. We asked the lift operator how much we weigh. 14 metric tons.
- The travel lift is on the move. Yes, On Delay clears the lip of the slip.
- On Delay in the slings ready for power washing.
- The super-duper powerwasher cleaned off months of growth with ease. Even most of the barnacles came off under the power.
- Our top-of-the-line swim ladder is a great help for getting on and off the boat.
- We have to take the contents of fridge and freezer (no cooling on the hard) and what we need for life-on-land.

- Gayle took the first batch of luggage to the apartments in the golf cart with Sue the realtor from Niagra.
Helluva cart driver, Gayle!!
