It is out

The drogue is out. The yellow line is part of the drogue and the white line is the trip line to make the drogue easier to pull in.

  1. Thank you for your informative post. I have a question. Whereabouts do you attach the deployed drogue? I am thinking that unless it is centrally attached, there would be a risk of it pulling the boat to either starboard or port (depending the the side it’s attached to. Did you experience anything untoward with steering when you deployed it. Also. Did you weigh it down with anything at the end in order to ensure it didn’t float on the surface

    • The drogue was attached to the aft cleats (~25 ft apart) via a 60ft bridle. It was weighted at the end with ~ 12lbs of vinyl coated chain.
By having it attached at two cleats we had the ability to trim if necessary. In the light winds we deployed it in, it wasn’t necessary.
